Experience Sharing Visit to Namibia

Ten-day visit was organized for a team consist of two government staff and two FZS staff to share the experiences of Namibia community based natural resource management (CBNRM) in general and community monitoring in particular. The visit was executed between 10 September and 20 September 2010 in Caprivi region of Namibia. The visit was hosted by Integrated Rural Development and Nature Conservation (IRDNC), Namibia local non government organization (NGO) and Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF), Namibia, as well as local communities engaged in the management of conservancies and community forest. The participants visited 5 conservancies, two community forests and two national parks as well held meeting with local community, field office and regional officers to understand the activities at different levels. In general the team has gained an insight about event book system, community game census, monitoring of locally used natural resources, community based organization (CBO) structures and small enterprises related to CBNRM.
