Project Partnerships
Macaulay Land Use Research Institute (MLURI) coordinates the overall project management. Dr Fisher from MLURI visited the project area in February 2010 and contributed expertise and advice for local project staff members.
The Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority (EWCA) is the lead partner at the federal level and chairs the Project Steering Committee (PSC), guiding project development, overseeing regional coordination for implementation and providing feedback to policy-makers.
Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) facilitates the formal and legal arrangements for operating and implementing the project in Ethiopia. They provide the main support for implementation of CBNRM in the project areas. Currently two junior technical officers are employed with project funding for project implementation.
The University of Aberdeen (UA): Dr Pinard attended the PSC meetings in Ethiopia in March 2009 and June 2009 to further develop the project activity plan. Subsequent to being awarded the grant additional money was secured to fund a PhD for the project coordination officer that is fully integrated into the activities and outcomes of CAMP. This opportunity represents significant added value to the project allowing FZS to employ the two additional junior technical officers (JTO).
Forum for the Environment (FFE), a local NGO, are involved in the dissemination of technical reports. They actively participated in PSC meetings and involved in organizing national workshop about community monitoring.
Oromia Region. Now represented by the Oromia Forest and Wildlife Enterprise (OFWE).
Amhara Region: Now represented by the Amhara Bureau of Culture and Tourism with responsibility for the Guassa CCA and Abune Yoseph CCA, Their personnel are taking a lead in the GCCA where the CBNRM and associated monitoring process is most advanced.
Wondo Genet College of Forestry (WG): The project has offered to work with WG on CBNRM curricula development as part of their contribution to the project goals and capacity building in country.
