The PDWork Utilities Pack consists of a number of templates and add-in functions in Microsoft Excel format to assist the calculations typically required in the work of purine derivatives in ruminants:
| Calculating the appropriate dilution factors of urine for the assay of allantoin, uric acid, xanthine plus hypoxanthine, and creatinine | |
| Calculating the results in allantoin, uric acid, xanthine plus hypoxanthine, and creatinine assays: 1) establishing a standard curve, and 2) calculating the concentration of samples from absorbance. | |
| Using the statistical process control chart to perform quality control of the analytical assays. | |
| Recording and processing the raw-data | |
| Demonstrating the use PD excretion or the PD:creatinine index for the estimation of microbial N supply |
Files included in the PDWork Utilities Pack are listed below:
| File name | Description |
| PDWork.xla | PDWork.xla is an Excel macro file and works effectively as an integrator of all the templates available |
| Dilution.xlt | A template for calculating the urine dilution factors for allantoin, uric acid and creatinine assays. |
| Calc_alln.xlt | A template for calculating the results in the assay of allantoin |
| Calc_uric.xlt | A template for calculating the results in the assay of uric acid |
| Calc_XH.xlt | A template for calculating the results in the assay of xanthine plus hypoxanthine |
| Calc_cre.xlt | A template for calculating the results in the assay of creatinine in urine |
| Calc_pcre.xlt | A template for calculating the results in the assay of creatinine in plasma |
| QC.xlt | Using the statistical process control chart to perform quality control of the analytical assay |
| PDC.xlt | A template and demonstration file for calculation of the PDC index from spot samples |
| raw_data.xlt | A template for a workbook where you can put the raw data such as urine volume, dilution factor etc |
| PD2MN.xlt | A template and demonstration file for calculation of microbial N supply from total PD excretion |
| purine.la | An add-in for MS Excel which provides some functions for the calculation of absorbed purines from PD excretion, and of microbial N supply from absorbed purine, in sheep and in cattle |
What do you need to use these utilities?
Microsoft Excel 97, 2000, XP and latter versions.
