Just along the corridor was the Future Landscapes hub where the Virtual Landscape Theatre provided a talking point on landscapes. Visitors were able to discover what it feels like to mountain bike down a mountain via a webcam and also plan and manage their own farm with Pipe Dreams, our pc-based game.

The Macaulay Land Use Research Institute and SCRI joined forces on 1 April 2011 to create The James Hutton Institute. It is the first Institute of its type in Europe and will make major, new contributions to the understanding of key global issues such as food, energy and environmental security.
