About 300 people work at the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute. The majority are based in the headquarters building in Aberdeen, which opened in 1993 and provides superb state-of-the-art facilities (pictured).
Within the Institute, our research staff are administratively divided into five science areas: Catchment Management, Ecology, Integrated Land Use Systems, Socio-Economic Research and Soils. Staff in our Analytical Group support the scientific research programmes as well as providing specialist commercial analytical services, and the Institute's work as a whole is supported by staff in Business Development, Communications and Outreach, Finance, HR and Traning Development, Library and Information Services and Technical Services which make up our Administrative Group as well as by staff in Information Technology Services.
