Research Stations

We operate two field research stations that are used by scientists from the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute and also host experiments from other research organisations. Both stations are farms located in Scotland. We also jointly operate a third farm in Wales with IGER.

Map showing locations of Institute Research StationsThe stations provide:

  • Experimental facilities on well-serviced and secure sites.
  • Sites where long-term monitoring of the environment can be carried out.
  • A range of agricultural enterprises for study.
  • A range of vegetation communities for study.
  • Field resources that have a well-known past as well as a plan for their future management.
  • Sites where open days and other events can help the Institute present aspects of its work to a range of end-users.
