Understanding Biodiversity themeAll parts of this research will make knowledge accessible to conservation organisations, policy makers, land managers and other scientists of the relative importance of the various complex social, economic and environmental factors related to land management and policy actions that impact on biodiversity change.

Specifically, in consultation with key stakeholders (to identify the major issues), the research undertaken will:

  • Provide information and guidance for scientists, land managers and policy makers on likely major biodiversity changes and their consequences, in the habitats selected for study, thus contributing to the development of management objectives, targets and policies.
  • Generate peer reviewed articles in leading scientific journals.
  • Provide web based information, presentations, policy notes and briefs, and contributions to trade and popular press.
  • Contribute to the generation and interpretation of information and datasets for use by other researchers and Agencies, and promote methods for optimisation of data collection between different stakeholders.
  • Provide information of use for educational purposes (school to university).
