To be able to manage Biodiversity, we need to understand the impact environmental changes can and will have on our natural heritage.
For example, management actions may be needed to halt the loss of biodiversity in specific habitats, to promote the restoration of threatened species, or to control invasive species.
The development and evaluation of potential management options then feeds back into redefining further managment and ultimately, in shaping land use policies.
In order to address these challenges, it is necessary to recognise the main causes of biodiversity change include both man-made and environmental factors, such as land use, pollution and climate.
