Scottish Climate Change Bill

On June 21 2007, the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, John Swinney, announced that the Scottish Government would consult on a Scottish Climate Change Bill to set a mandatory target of cutting emissions by 80% by 2050.

This Bill will be the driver for devolved climate change policies in the future.

The consultation was launched on January 29 2008 and closed on April 23 2008.
