Project Summary
The EU FR7/03 COST Action "Expected Climate Change and Options for European Silviculture" (ECHOES) was launched in 2008, with the duration of 4 years and economic dimension of 20 M€. Its main objectives are to mobilize and integrate the scientific knowledge on climate change for European forest policymakers and managers. The project consists of three Working Groups: Impacts, Adaptation and Mitigation. The Mitigation Group is co-ordinated jointly from the European Forestry Institute, Prof Gert-Jan Nabuurs, and the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute, Maria Nijnik who also acts as a member of the Management and Steering Committees for this EU FR 07 Cost Action.
Yan Xu, Guillaume Pajot and some other specialists from the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute contribute to ECHOES activities, with totally 27 Cost countries and 5 Non-Cost members involved in it from all over the world. Information about the COST Action, with the ECHOES's newsletters and main outputs, including the recently published UK National Report on Impacts, Adaptation and Mitigation of Forests to Climate Change and ECHOES newsletters, is now available online and from Maria Nijnik.
