HOST Class 9
- Geology:
- fine textured (silty or clayey) lacustrine or riverine alluvium.
- Landforms:
- often associated with loch margins or in-filled ox-bow lakes on broad alluvial flood plains. Occasionally they are found as large, relatively stone-free areas of former lake beds which are still prone to seasonal flooding.
- Soils:
- imperfect to poorly drained alluvial soils.
- Vegetation:
- often rush pasture.
- Flow:
- by-pass flow to shallow groundwater.
