Science groups
The Macaulay Land Use Research Institute and SCRI joined forces on 1 April 2011 to create The James Hutton Institute. It is the first Institute of its type in Europe and will make major, new contributions to the understanding of key global issues such as food, energy and environmental security.
Within the Institute the research staff are administratively divided into five science areas: (see menu at the side of the page).
The Institute publishes over 150 papers a year in peer reviewed scientific journals, as well as a number of reports, policy briefs and magazine articles. Read our publications list.
