Soil Resources
MacaulaySoils - the Institute's soil analysis service
SoilFit - is a large, multidisciplinary project that integrates state-of-the-art soil fingerprinting methods, national soils databases, GIS, and appropriate statistics, to match soil forensic samples to likely geographical origin.
HYPRES (HYdraulic PRoperties of European Soils) - a database of soil hydraulic properties and relevant soil attributes. HYPRES has geo-reference and horizon has the unique identifiers of approximately 4900 soil horizons.
HOST (Hydrology of Soil Types) - a model that uses the distribution of soils to predict river flow levels in ungauged catchments. HOST can also be used in predictions of water quality, land suitability and environmental assessments.
TIPSS (Trends In Pollution of Scottish Soils) - a survey of surface soils across Scotland, carried out in 1990 to assess the pollution caused by atmospheric deposition.
ORCHESTRA (Object Representation of CHEmical Speciation and TRAnsport models) - a model that represents an entirely new approach to the modelling of chemical and physical phenomena.
