Dr Iain Brown
Iain is co-ordinator of the thematic research on Landscapes and Rural Communities (WP3.8), part of the Programme 3 initiative funded by the Scottish Government. His background is in climate change, having worked on its past, present and future aspects for the last 20 years. Previously he has worked for the UK Climate Impacts Programme, Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, and University of Glamorgan.Research Interests
His research focuses on developing integrated responses to climate change, including links with soils, ecology, freshwater and coastal systems. He is also interested in examining people's perception of, and responses to, climate change, and therefore how this can be better connected with the emerging science. A key technique for this is the modelling and analysis of future scenarios, together with the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and 3D landscape visualisation.Iain's highlighted publications
