Silvicultural strategies for predicting damage to forests from wind, fire and snow.

Task 6

A clickable map of this task is available that shows the relationships between tasks, deliverables and the participating organizations.

Integrating Components from Tree/Stand Regional-level
to Produce a Unified Risk Model

Objectives
The objective of this task is to study a methodology for integrating the component models from tasks 2, 3, 4 and 5. A further objective of Task 6 will be to accept feedback from the model testing in Task 7 to refine the framework developed in Task 6.

Methodology
Spatial analyses and statistical techniques will be used with the range of input data types to permit data usage across a range of scales. Model errors estimated from Tasks 2, 3, 4, and 5 will be taken together with errors in the geographical data to produce estimates of uncertainty associated with each risk map output. The nature of the uncertainty may be different for each model objective (fire, snow, wind). An overall framework, with apparently loose links will be tackled in the first year to provide a basis for future integration . This will use the output of task 1.
